Precious Memories

Wouldn’t it be great if we could feel some of the magic felt when we were expected, experience the joy that our birth brought to our family and to have those treasured moments captured forever.

Why not give this gift to your child?
the digital age has many advantages and access to so much, be careful that your memories are stored in a way that they will still be available for your child in years to come. Print the important photos and documents and store them safely.

Some ideas for you to consider

  • Photos are wonderful, have a caption with each telling the story!
a great idea is to take a photo at birth with a toy like a teddy and take a photo with the same teddy every month on the same date for a year to see the growth- makes a fun project for a frame. Send out your monthly photo on face book, an easy but effective way of sharing your baby’s progress
remember to take as many photos of the second and subsequent children as the first.
  • scrapbookingFor the creative moms scrapbooking is a safe fun way of storing these memories. If you do scrapbook your memories remember that capturing the information “Journaling” the what, when, how, why and where of each photo is vital. having a beautiful page but no message, date or description will be meaningless. a scrap book filled with many treasures is great fun. for the front cover make a family tree using photographs. collect scan pictures, name tags, the cord clamp, a lock of hair, (if baby has any) stork party pictures and cards, cards from flower arrangements and a dried flower or two.
  • A diary written to your unborn child, expressing your feelings. A record of scans, stork parties or any event you feel will be interesting. Capture those special moments you felt at and in the first days after their birth.
  • A video clip is a great way of preserving memories. have a second copy made and stored away from the original in case of loss or damage. Make a little movie by combining them all.
  • precious-memoriesTime capsule – this is a box/canister that you fill with treasures from the time around the baby’s birth until the 1st year, the box sealed on the 1st birthday and opened on the child’s 18/21st birthday. add a newspaper, list of popular music, a grocery price list, price of petrol, any major event or sport events – have fun with this project it will be so great to open it and go through it with your child one day.
  • foot and hand prints either done using water based paint or having clay prints done.
  • Keep a record of baby’s milestones, little sayings and cute things the baby does and later says.
